Mother & Baby Support Group and the Family Guide to Jakarta

Mother & Baby Support Group

Unfortunately the mother and baby support group has had to close temporarily. Our wonderful volunteers have sadly been posted elsewhere.

Health professionals

If you are a health visitor/midwife/nurse and you would like to keep your registration up to date whilst living in Jakarta, do think about volunteering with us.

Please email Barbara Jayson at the following email address to discuss all the options available: Barbara.jayson@gmail.com

Parents

Unfortunately, experience has told us that not many health visitors are posted to Jakarta. So if you are a mother/father with young children and would like to give something back to the expat community, please email us.

It is very possible to set up a support group run by parents for parents – like the NCT or netmums network in the UK.

You do not need any formal qualifications, only the ability to listen to other parents and offer good practical advice.

This is an essential service and many many parents have been asking for this support group to be re instated.

Please come forward now and volunteer.

The Family Guide to Jakarta: The Essential Handbook for Parents

The Family Guide to Jakarta: The Essential Handbook for ParentsWith the growth in social activities, shopping facilities and medical care available in Jakarta over the past 10 years or so, a dedicated group of expatriate and Indonesian women have worked together to produce a handbook for new parents living in Jakarta: ‘The Family Guide to Jakarta’.

The first edition was brought out in April 2003 and now successive committees of women volunteer their time to update the information on a regular basis. Now in its 3rd edition and covering topics such as keeping safe and healthy in Jakarta, finding clubs and associations, finding playgroups, schools and sports facilities, and where to go on your days out, this handbook is the definitive guide for all parents with families living in Jakarta. It is bursting with resources, tips and recommendations for children of all ages.

All profits from the sale of The Family Guide to Jakarta go towards supporting programmes for impoverished mothers and children in Indonesia. To buy your own copy of ‘The Family Guide to Jakarta’:
